These super simple five grain strawberry almond oat bowls have been my favorite breakfast lately! There is something about a warm, sweet breakfast that starts the day on the right foot. I have been loving the 5 gain cereal by Woodstock farms lately. I get mine at Wegmans. It has whole grain oats, whole wheat, rye, barley, triticale, and flaxseed which is perfect because I can still get plenty of nutrition out of something I stuck in the microwave for two minutes. Also, quick note on honey. I know this blog started out vegan, but as the years have gone by I have become so much less restrictive and just doing whatever feels right for me. I have now added eggs, honey and occasionally even fish back into my diet. Honey was the most recent addition because one of my old friends actually told me about how agave is actually a pretty harmful crop to maintain. It takes so much water to produce, lets leave the agave to the tequila.

These five grain strawberry almond oat bowls are the perfect microwavable breakfast that is simple to make, delicious and wholesome.

Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla
  • pinch salt
  • sliced strawberries & bananas, almond butter, honey to serve
  • additional flax seeds, if desired
Directions
  • Step 1 Combine the oats, water, vanilla and salt in a microwavable bowl. LIGHTLY COVER OR IT WILL BLOW UP. microwave for 2 minutes. Stir, then cook for an additional minute.
  • Step 2 Top with strawberries and bananas, almond butter, honey and flax seeds.
